I’ve been busy putting together ‘Jars of Good Things’ for my kids to collect in 2017.
The idea is that I will give empty jars to my kids on New Year’s Day, with the challenge that they fill them with little notes describing all ‘the good stuff’ that happens to them in 2017 (obviously hoping there’s lots of good stuff ahead!!).
I’ll give them coloured paper to write them on, so by the end of the year they will look like colourful sweet jars. Then I can transfer the little coloured papers into scrap books, so they will become their very first diaries. Hopefully a lovely thing for them (and me!) to look back on when they are older.
As I’m a bit of a one for aesthetics, I found these printable apothecary jar labels on the internet which make the jars look more interesting. You can’t really see on these pictures, but I also printed them out on marble-effect paper to add to the vintage look. Douwe Egberts coffee jars work really well.
So, next year consider collecting memories not things…
